Here are simple instructions on how to change a color image to Black & White.

1. Open the image you want to work with in Photoshop Elements.

2. Save the image as a new name so that you do not overwrite the original.

2. Go to the Image Menu and select Mode from the drop down menu, then from the sub menu, select Grayscale. Your image will turn to Black and White.

3. If your image looks like it has nothing but grays and not a nice rich black in it:

From the Enhance menu, select Adjust Lighting, and then select Brightness & Contrast from the submenu.

Move the Contrast slider to the right to increase the contrast.

Click ok to apply the changes.

4. Save your image. That’s all there is to it.
